Hike Hocking Hills State Park

Year after year the park is one of the top destinations in the entire state of Ohio and for good reason. Hocking Hills State Park encompasses a huge space that is filled with gorgeous scenery including waterfalls, rock formations, and even recess caverns, and home to countless stuff to do in Hocking Hills. Many of these areas can be explored on the over 25 miles of different hiking trails. Hocking Hills State Park is broken down into seven distinct areas allowing you to keep track of what you have explored so far. Exploring the entire park is a difficult feat for a single day and is recommended to be explored across a few visits.
The seven different areas you can explore include Cedar Falls, Ash Cave, Cantwell Cliffs, Conkle’s Hollow, Old Man’s Cave, Rock House, and Hemlock Bridge Trail. Each area has something new to see and features hiking trails of various difficulty. Each area has something to explore for both beginner and experienced hikers, so nothing is ever off limits. The main trail connecting the areas is also paved allowing for wheelchair access. You can enjoy the Hocking Hills State Park each day from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM. We recommend heading out early in the morning to beat the traffic especially during peak travel seasons.
Go Canoeing
Another great way to see the natural beauty surrounding Hocking Hills is by seeing it from the water. Canoeing is a big activity here in the area as the rivers provide a wonderful location to paddle around. Hocking River is a highlight to the community and provides a variety of different water-based activities. Each August the Mega Tube Float is hosted where hundreds of people grab a tube a float down the water for an incredible time. If your girls’ trip is not during the month of August, fret not, as there are other options to explore via the river. Adventure Pro Outdoors offers a variety of river trips all throughout the year including canoeing, kayaking, and also tubing. There are a variety of course lengths and times to schedule for your canoe trip. If you want to explore at your own pace, simply rent your own kayak or canoe from Hocking Hills Kayak Kab. Their rental shop can get you what you need along with scheduling a guided tour. Hocking Hills also has its own lake with Lake Logan found nearby. You can find everything you need for a blast on the water at the Lake Logan Marina that also offers its own rental shop. You can grab a stand up paddle board or a pedal boat. The lake is always a blast and best enjoyed with others. Make sure to take a dip in one of these incredible water-based activities during your girls’ journey!
Hit the Wineries
Hocking Hills has plenty of places for you and the girls to grab a drink whenever you are not out exploring. This includes local wineries that use locally foraged fruit for their special vintages of wine. Hocking Hills Winery is a local favorite and is found on a beautiful vineyard. The interior is a great place to hide out from the cold during the winter, but the outdoor patio is where Hocking Hills Winery truly shines. You can enjoy your glass of wine or flight as you gaze out onto the vineyard. Hocking Hills Winery also has other beverages on too such as beer for anyone in the group who is not a wine fan. The winery does not serve food but guests are encouraged to bring in their own meals so they can have a meal while enjoying their wine. Hocking Hills Winery is open Wednesday through Monday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with extended hours on Saturday.
